Our anniversary is coming up and we have some decisions to make about how we want to celebrate.  John and I both want three things and we can’t decide which to get.  So I’d love to hear input on which we should choose.

     #1 —–Cannon Rebel

       #2 —–Wii

#3 —–One night stay without kids in Chicago

I suppose eventually we will have all three but we can’t decide what we want now.

Hey a picture would sure be nice….. :)

  2. Alie Says:

    My vote is the camera.

i really like kurts wii fit. That could be fun but I’m also very jealous of Mary’s new camera and all the cool things it does with color. I’ve also never been to chicago so that would be fun. Ok, I’m of no use. Is there a D. all of the above option?

  4. Shauna Says:

I would definitely go for the camera, but that is just ’cause I’ve been wishing we could take some really cool professional looking (well as good as we are) pictures. I get tired of the fuzzy pics that we take :)

I’d go for the Wii – something you can do together. Leon and I have a hard time coming up with things to do together – guess we’ve been married too long. A night in Chicago would be fun, but it’s just one night. There are some really fun games that Leon and I have been hooked on once the kids go to bed. “Big Brain Academy” is a lot of fun and does not require getting up off the couch when it’s late and you are tired. But, we all enjoy playing Wii Sports – tennis & bowling. I say go for the Wii – long term togetherness.

a wii would be a great tool to strengthen the family and burn calories. you should get the wii

  7. Spencerman Says:

Spencer votes for the wii–all the way!

  8. Zimm Says:

    GET THE CAMERA!!!! (Happy Anniversary).

  9. Robyn Says:

Was that phone call from you guys last night, was that John singing? If it was, thanks, very fun to listen to, the kids laughed and laughed, if it wasn’t then tell John he needs to call us up and sing us a congratulation song on our machine. Love and miss you guys.

For the vote, I’m leaning on the night away. It’s so good to get away, I didn’t do it enough. But I also love rooting for the underdog.

I think the camera is a great investment….a wii would be a fun way for you to spend your free time together…but they go out of style eventually….where as a good cannon never dies.
BUT I would give all my votes to the one or two nights stay without kids if I could come and baby sit.

Wow, I am impressed that you guys are thinking so far ahead. Our anniversary is on Sunday, and we still don’t know what we are doing. We were going to get a new camera, but decided that we should just get that for the sake of having a nice camera, and not for our anniversary (not very romantic). If I were to go for the night away, I would just spend the whole time worrying about Sean.
I guess that makes my vote for the Wii. We love playing at night after the kids all go to bed. The wii fit is also awesome!!! My parents even wanted to get a Wii after coming over and playing Wii Fit.
Now tell us what to do for our anniversary on Sunday.

Chamaine here: my vote is the Wii (we love ours – often for Family Night we “go bowling” with the Wii). But I also like the idea of the Cannon Rebel Xti – they rock! Although a night in Chicago, coupled with a trip to the Oprah show would be AWESOME (and perhaps a cute new outfit bought in Chicago?!)! Good luck with your decision…

I found this comparison of the xt vs. the xti for you guys:

    1) New 10.1 effective Megapixel CMOS sensor (versus 8.0 on the Rebel XT)
    >> so we’ve already determined it’s not a big difference

    2) New dust reduction system
    >> sounds like a good thing to have, does dust affect the life of the camera or just the image quality? (ie. spots on the picture) And how would you clean the dust without this feature?

    3) Large 2.5″ LCD display (versus 1.8″ on the XT)
    >> this seems like a nice feature, being able to see things a little more clearly

No more LCD info display (the main LCD is used instead)
    >> well this creates room for a bigger LCD, anyone who’s experienced both types of info displays, does this make it easier to use?

    4) 9-point autofocus system (versus 7-point)
    >> this one I don’t know anything about can someone explain what exactly this means, and if 2 more points makes much of a difference?

    5) Can now take more shots in a row in burst mode (27 vs 14 JPEG, 10 vs 6 RAW)
    >> always been interested in having this feature on a camera, it nearly has double the amount of pictures in a row

    6) New Picture Styles feature, first seen on the EOS-5D and 30D
    >> I guess this makes it a little more user friendly for someone who doesn’t know the best manual settings for landscape, portrait etc

    7) Battery life is 10% lower than on the XT
    >> I think I read this is due to the larger LCD, 10% doesn’t sound like a lot but when actually using it do you notice it more? Also read the battery grip adds more battery life.

So maybe it’s worth it! :-)

  14. Mandy The Babe Says:

Chamaine again: Rene has the Xti and LOVES it, but her one complaint is the short battery life – that is one reason why she likes the Nikon D40 – long battery life…just a thought. Oh, and the dust reduction thing (from what I remember from my photo class) is really not necessary…the 9-point focus allows the camera to focus on more faces, flowers, etc.
